Born and bred within the Forest of Pendle, John A Clayton is a qualified historian
and landscape archaeologist; he has also appeared on a number of local and national
radio broadcasts and filmed for television.
Years of research led to the publication of three books on the subject of the Pendle
Witches - John’s research is ongoing and it is fair to say that he is now recognised
as the leading authority on the subject.
Because of this he was commissioned to act as historical advisor to The Pendle Witch
Child - a film made for the BBC and first aired in the autumn of 2011 to great acclaim.
